TMU Joins TCCS: Advancing Sustainability Through Cross-Sector Collaboration

In 2024, Taipei Medical University (TMU) joined the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Training Center (TCCS) as a corporate member, alongside 12 other institutions, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development. On January 14, 2025, during the TCCS membership signing ceremony, the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) highlighted TCCS's role as a platform for cross-sector collaboration. Currently, TCCS boasts 82 corporate members, including enterprises, universities, hospitals, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and is progressively expanding onto the international stage.

TAISE Chairman, Ambassador Eugene Chien, emphasized that sustainable development is not only a global trend but also a shared responsibility among all stakeholders. He noted that TCCS aims to bring the world to Taiwan and introduce Taiwan to the world through exchange and cooperation. Ambassador Chien also cautioned that the global sustainability environment will face significant challenges in 2025, urging all parties to prepare diligently and work together to drive positive change.

TMU President, Dr. Max Wu, shared the university's journey in promoting sustainable development during the signing ceremony. He highlighted that healthcare and education inherently concern humanity. Amid the global sustainability wave, TMU has successfully integrated health and sustainability through its professional expertise, earning widespread recognition for its innovative achievements. In 2024, the TMU system received multiple honors, including the Executive Yuan's National Sustainable Development Award and several accolades from the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards. Notably, in the fields of smart healthcare and green medicine, TMU has enhanced medical efficiency through AI technology and telemedicine, while actively promoting carbon emission inventories and the construction of renewable energy facilities.

By joining TCCS, TMU not only demonstrates its firm commitment to sustainable development but also aims to collaborate with corporate partners on innovative projects with significant social impact. Looking ahead, TMU will focus on issues such as green supply chain management, carbon emission management, and medical waste reduction, sharing practical experiences and fostering knowledge exchange to build a sustainable and mutually beneficial future.

TMU's membership marks a significant step toward the global sustainability stage and a new beginning. The university looks forward to partnering with like-minded organizations to embrace challenges and jointly write a new chapter in sustainable development.
