Taipei Medical University and its affiliated medical system have received multiple honors — including the “Taiwan Sustainable University Award” and the “Taiwan Sustainable Healthcare Award” — showcasing the TMU system’s deep commitment to implementing ESG sustainability governance across higher education and healthcare.
Under the guiding theme “Leading Sustainable Medical Education, Co-creating a Healthy and Resilient Future,” Taipei Medical University was awarded the “Taiwan Top 10 Sustainable Model Universities Award,” recognizing its outstanding performance across campus governance, sustainability education, environmental management, social engagement, and global connectivity.
In particular achievement categories, TMU earned the “Environmental Leadership Award,” the “Workplace Well-being Leadership Award,” and the “Social Inclusion Leadership Award,” reflecting its comprehensive and robust efforts in sustainability.
On the environmental governance front, TMU has proactively implemented a “Green Laboratory” certification system, adopted intelligent energy systems, enforced laboratory chemical classification and hazardous-waste reduction practices, and carried out waste segregation and pollution prevention measures — building an efficient, low-consumption, safe environment for teaching and research, and evolving a green, resilient, smart-sustainable campus governance structure.
For workplace well-being, TMU has strived to create an inclusive and mentally healthy workplace. The university offers a variety of support systems including psychological health services, occupational safety education, flexible working hours, childcare assistance, onboarding care for new staff, and supervisor training. These measures strengthen organizational resilience and a culture of mindful employee care.
In the realm of social inclusion, combining USR (University Social Responsibility) initiatives with the capacity of its affiliated medical institutions, TMU has promoted elder-inclusive caretaking, medical outreach in rural/underserved areas, intergenerational learning, and community health care initiatives — actively responding to challenges posed by population aging, health equity, and localized care needs. These efforts demonstrate TMU’s role as a platform for social innovation with real-world social impact.

The TMU healthcare system stood out in the “Taiwan Sustainable Health Awards.” Its affiliated hospital, Wan Fang Hospital, and Shuang Ho Hospital all received awards — demonstrating TMU’s integrated governance capability and its value as a sustainable medical model.
The university’s main hospital was awarded a Silver-level Sustainability Report Award, and received leadership recognitions in Social Inclusion, Age-Friendly Care, and Smart Healthcare. These accolades reflect its cross-domain integration of medicine, technology, and social engagement. Initiatives include collaborative community-based elderly care models and employing AI technology to implement readmission-risk early warning systems, thereby enhancing care quality.
Wan Fang Hospital earned a Gold-level Sustainability Report Award, and was recognized as a leader in Climate Action and Workplace Well-being — highlighting its concrete actions and effectiveness in smart energy-saving and friendly workplace policies.
Shuang Ho Hospital received the Platinum-level Sustainability Report Award and was chosen as a “Taiwan Sustainable Quality Hospital,” acknowledging its systematic work and actual achievements in sustainability governance, patient safety, and community health promotion.

Taipei Medical University will continue to deepen its “One Campus” integrated governance strategy — advancing energy management, data integration, smart healthcare, carbon accounting across campuses, and linking teaching, research, medical care, and social service domains. The TMU system aims to realize a resilient, scalable, and sustainable governance framework. Centered on the vision of “Health Resilience, Sustainable Future,” TMU integrates education and healthcare, employing innovation, integration, and action to evolve into a more resilient and impactful sustainable medical university.
