The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 global goals established in 2015 aimed at achieving worldwide sustainable development by 2030. Among them, SDG 4: Quality Education focuses on ensuring inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education while promoting lifelong learning opportunities. Taipei Medical University’s medical education is structured around the four core principles of SDG 4 — accessibility, equality and inclusion, quality assurance, and lifelong learning — with efforts to enhance teaching methods, improve learning environments, and innovate talent cultivation.
To achieve accessibility, the university provides diverse admission pathways, including multiple entry programs and digital learning platforms that allow students of various backgrounds to complete their medical training.
For equality and inclusion, TMU emphasizes humanities education, social responsibility, and interdisciplinary teamwork to foster respect for gender and cultural diversity and to nurture teamwork, ethics, and communication skills among students.
To ensure quality education, the university continuously develops faculty teaching abilities via workshops and communities of practice, strengthens clinical and simulation training, and implements competency-based medical education with varied assessment methods.
For lifelong learning, TMU promotes autonomous learning, online continuing education, and research integration to support ongoing professional growth for students and healthcare professionals.
