Taiwan’s First “Greater Wenshan ESG Action Alliance” Officially Launched—Wan Fang Hospital Joins Hands with 13 Cross-Sector Part

Medical institutions are not only places for treatment but can also serve as engines for community sustainability. On January 28, 2026, Wan Fang Hospital held the launch ceremony for the “Greater Wenshan ESG Action Alliance.” Witnessed by Eugene Chien, Chairman of the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), and Song-Jun Deng, District Chief of Wenshan District, the hospital joined 13 local partners spanning religion, education, ecology, and health to sign the Greater Wenshan ESG Action Initiative. This milestone marks a step toward building a regional resilient community and represents Taiwan’s first cross-sector ESG initiative centered on a hospital.

Dr. Tsan-Hung Liu, Superintendent of Wan Fang Hospital and the alliance’s first chairperson, emphasized that the responsibility of hospitals extends beyond hospital wards to the broader future of the community. Facing the dual challenges of climate change and an aging society, hospitals must step beyond their walls and collaborate with the community. He noted that the alliance’s core spirit is collaboration rather than isolated action, allowing resources to circulate, experiences to be shared, and sustainability practices to take root in Wenshan.

The alliance connects 13 partners across four major sectors, forming a dense network of community cooperation stretching from Zhinan Temple to the Taipei Zoo:

  1. Religion and Spiritual Well-being: Zhinan Temple, Muzha Zhongshun Temple, Jingmei Ji-Ying Temple, Muzha Ji-Ying Temple
  2. Education and Culture: National Chengchi University, Wan Fang High School, Xinghua Elementary School
  3. Ecology and Environment: Taipei Zoo

  4. Health and Sports: Wenshan District Health Service Center, Jingmei Hospital, Wenshan Sports Center, Wenshan Safe Community & Healthy City Promotion Association

Through this alliance, Wan Fang Hospital aims to integrate community resources and promote ESG initiatives across sectors, creating a resilient, sustainable, and collaborative community ecosystem in the Greater Wenshan area.
