TMU Climbs to 326–350 in THE World University Rankings 2027, Ranking 2nd in Taiwan

Taipei Medical University (TMU) has achieved another strong result in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, rising from the 401–500 band in 2026 to the 326–350 band and placing 2nd in Taiwan. The result demonstrates TMU's growing competitiveness in the global higher education landscape and reflects the university's long-term commitment to education, research, innovation, and international engagement.

THE released the World University Rankings 2027 on September 30, with a record 2,297 universities from 118 countries and regions included. TMU's significant improvement, achieved amid increasingly intense global competition, reflects steady gains in both international visibility and overall institutional performance.

Notably, the 2027 rankings further refine certain ranking bands, giving a clearer picture of each institution's relative position in the global higher education landscape. TMU's entry into the 326–350 band not only signals continued upward movement in the global rankings but also highlights the university's accumulated progress in talent development, research innovation, and international collaboration in recent years.

The THE World University Rankings are among the most influential global university assessments. TMU improved its scores across all five pillars used to evaluate research-intensive universities — Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook — offering a comprehensive view of the university's performance in education, research, knowledge transfer, and global engagement.

In recent years, TMU has continued to advance interdisciplinary education and research innovation, linking the clinical and research strengths of the university and its healthcare system, deepening global academic collaboration and talent exchange, and actively translating biomedical research into clinical applications and industry innovation. Rising from the 401–500 band to 326–350 in the THE rankings further demonstrates the results of TMU's long-term investment in education, research, and internationalization.

Looking ahead, TMU will continue to strengthen the links among education, research, healthcare, innovation, and international collaboration, leveraging the advantages of its multi-hospital healthcare system to expand its academic and societal impact. By turning the university's strengths into tangible contributions to global health and wellbeing, TMU will keep advancing toward becoming a medical university with global connectivity and influence.
